Intensity for Sport Activity Workouts

Understand the way workout intensity is affecting calculation of workout effort

Exercise intensity refers to how hard your body is working during physical activity. The intensity of а workout is divided into three levels:

🟡 Low:

Intensity is Low if you can talk without running out of breath while performing an activity – like playing with a kid.

🟠 Moderate:

Intensity is Moderate when you might be slightly sweating, but you can still carry on a conversation. If you can comfortably talk but not sing, you’re doing Medium intense activity.

🔴 High:

Intensity is High when at the end of the session, you feel that you can not work at the end of the session. If you can’t say more than a few words without gasping for breath, you’re exercising at a vigorous intensity.

Based on the intensity level, we calculate the effort of each Sports activity. Here are a few examples of how the intensity level is affecting the calculation of the effort:

Example 1:

Mat played 1 hour of tennis table, teaching his kid how to play. When logging the activity in the app, he selected Table Tennis and marked it as a Low-intensity workout.

The result:

He has a Logged activity of 1 hour of Table tennis that is giving him 3600 steps  (instead of the total of 7200 steps if the intensity was High)

Example 2:

Nina used her bike to go to work this mourning. She cycled 30 min total, primarily downhill and without putting much effort. When logging the activity in the app, she selected Bicycling and marked it as a Medium intensity workout.

The result:

She has a Logged activity of 30 mins Bicycling that is giving her 3570 steps (instead of the total of 5100 steps if the intensity was High)

Example 3:

Richard played Tenis with his colleague after work for 1 hour. They are both advanced players, and the game is very intense. When logging the activity in the app, he selected Tennis and marked it as a high-intensity workout.
The result:

He has a Logged activity of 1 hour Tennis that is giving him 12000 steps
